The 2025 Bundestag election is just around the corner, and for many voters, this means requesting mail-in ballots and casting their votes securely. Torgau-Kuvert plays a key role in this process. As one of Germany’s leading producers of election envelopes, we have been working at full speed in recent weeks. 30 million ballot envelopes and voting slip envelopes have been produced on time at our facility. A challenge that our team has mastered with excellence!
When the early Bundestag election was announced in November 2024, we knew immediately: swift action was needed. In no time, vast amounts of paper had to be sourced, packaging materials organized, and production ramped up. It wasn’t just about quantity but also quality and precision. Election materials must be produced exactly according to the specifications of the Federal Election Office to ensure a flawless voting process.
At Torgau-Kuvert, we produce various types of election envelopes: windowed mailing envelopes printed with "Official Election Notification," which all eligible voters receive, as well as white and colored ballot envelopes. These ensure the secure handling of election materials and can either be sent by mail or submitted in person on election day.
Everything starts with a massive roll of paper weighing several hundred kilos. In a precisely timed production process, the paper web is punched, fitted with windows, folded, and glued. At the end of this process, the finished envelopes are carefully inspected by our employees and securely packed for transport. This ensures that every single election envelope meets the highest quality standards.
The Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR) covered the production of mail ballot envelopes for the 2025 Bundestag election in the MDR SACHSENSPIEGEL broadcast on January 14, 2025. The report "Torgau-Kuvert: Fewer Letters, New Focus" offers fascinating insights into our production process. You can watch the video in German here.
